Settings App: Roles

Roles are used to limit rights and accessibility for a location.  A user with the rights to add roles will have an “Add” button at the top of the Roles screen.  They can pick and choose which function of which apps this role will have access to. An example of a role could be “Technician.” A user creating the role could give access to the KPI with rights to view the dashboard, edit KPI Entry, and not see the Location KPIs. It’s important to have a job role in mind and work the rights around that role. 




To create a role, click + Add in the top left corner.



A menu will appear to adjust the settings of the role. Use the arrows to collapse or expand the information on the list below:


Title the role and give it a description to make it clear to all users what the purpose of this role is meant to be.


By using the Grid search field, the user can quickly search for the app(s) that will be given permission to in the role.


Choose the specific functions under each menu tab for the apps by checking the boxes on the right side.



Tip: Remember to check all pages to look at all the functions of the app.  Clicking on the arrows beside the app/menu tab or the collapse all button will help organize creating the role.


Once complete, Save the role.


On the main page, Roles can be edited by clicking on Edit.  (The Admin role can't be edited; its settings can only be viewed.)
